Parksville, SC

1946 Statistics: C&WC Station #32, 33 car siding, 32.3 miles from Augusta and 101 miles from Spartanburg.

Parks Store, SC was renamed Parksville in 1882 after the late Richard Parks, a wealthy fellow who had owned some mills in the area. The railroad came into the town in the same year as the Augusta and Knoxville Railroad.

The town layout in 1932 shows the depot located on Railroad Avenue.  It is noted to be a one story frame structure with cotton platform on the north side. The depot measured about 20 feet wide by 65 feet long.  The cotton platform was about 30 feet wide and 45 feet long.

Parksville of today is illustrated in the map below.  The position of the depot is marked.  Also, Parksville is the current home of the C&WC Office Car #100 (See Home page).  Its location is also marked on the following map.

The following photos show Parksville today and the position of the old depot. The camera is looking South on US 221.

The following photo is looking North with the depot position marked.
